The sun is still out and it’s not yet too late to enjoy a BBQ with your friends! Of course, it would not be complete without the ice-cold drinks!
If you are currently standing on a patio underneath the heat of the sun, come on over to the nearest Great Canadian Liquor store near you and we’ll help you pick out some RTD Drinks here in Alberta. Coolers, Cocktails, Vodka drinks, whichever you would like, we have it in our cooler section!
Let’s keep this simple and get right on into it. Here are some favourites worth grabbing!
Start With the Canadian Favourites
So, Canadian RTD producers have gotten really good at making easy-drinking drinks.
Cottage Springs is a good place to start. Their lineup has a bunch of fruity flavours and variety packs, which are handy when you’re buying for a group and don’t want to commit to one flavour.
Then there’s NÜDE. This Canadian brand has become a familiar name in the RTD aisle, with vodka sodas, seltzers and hard iced teas that fit nicely into the “grab one from the fridge and head outside” category.
NÜTRL is another Canadian favourite, with vodka-based drinks and plenty of fruit-forward options. If you’re into simple flavours or something that’s easy to take along to a BBQ or get together, it’s worth a look.
Yes, Hard Tea Deserves a Spot in the Fridge
Hard iced tea has definitely found its moment.
There’s something about a cold can of iced tea on a warm Alberta afternoon that just works. It’s refreshing, familiar and doesn’t feel like you’re trying too hard.
Look for options like NÜDE Hard Iced Tea and Cottage Springs Hard Iced Tea, or grab a Twisted Tea if that’s more your style.
Hard teas are also a solid choice when you’re hosting. They sit somewhere between a traditional cooler and a cocktail, so they’re easy to throw into the mix with everything else.
Still Can’t Go Wrong With the Classics
Smirnoff Crush is a longtime favourite for anyone who likes fruity drinks, while Captain Morgan has plenty of rum-based RTDs for the crowd that likes a little more tropical flavour.
And then there are hard seltzers. If you’re after something crisp and easy, they’re still one of the simplest choices for a backyard hangout.
Building the Ultimate Cooler
Here’s our advice: don’t overthink it.
If you’re buying for a group, grab a mix. A variety pack, a few hard teas, some fruity coolers and a couple of seltzers will give people options without turning your shopping trip into a research project.
And if you’re watching the budget, check the specials before you fill the cart.
At Great Canadian Liquor, 10% off the first Tuesday of the month is a good excuse to stock up for the week, your next BBQ or that “a few friends are coming over” situation that somehow turns into 12 people.
